So spoed die jaar by ons verby, en kan ek nie glo ons is al in die helfte van die jaar nie.

Ek rig graag hierdie skrywe aan julle om julle aandag te vestig op ‘n paar punte en julle bewus te maak van ‘n nuwe vorm, wat julle artikels moet vergesel vir beoordeling in 2027.

*Daar is ‘n paar punte waarop ek julle aandag wil vestig.

*Amigurumi moet van ‘n etiket en stukkie garing/wol voorsien word met elke inskrywing, tot op SA vlak. Heg dit vas aan die artikel.

*Fotografie moet bestaan uit 3 foto’s uit verskillende rigtings/hoeke van dit wat jy wil afneem.  Jou eerste keuse foto word groot gedruk en gemonteer. Ander 2 is saam uitgedruk met rekenaar en agter op montering saam met jou naam en kamera inligting. 

*Aangeheg is dan ook ‘n nuwe vorm wat julle asb volledig moet invul en seker maak alle handtekeninge is daarop teenwoordig.  Hierdie gaan samewerking vra van julle takke se voorsitters, uitvoerende bestuur en veral die beoordelaars sameroepsters.   

Die vorm MOET asb elke artikel wat na SA in 2027 kom, vergesel.  Die vorm moet volledig voltooi wees.   

Dit word juis nou saam met die riglyne uitgestuur sodat alle betrokkenes ingelig is, en die vorm oral beskikbaar is.

Ek kan nie genoeg klem lê op die feit dat die vorm voltooi moet wees en elke artikel moet vergesel nie.  Indien daar geen vorm is nie, sal daar ook geen beoordeling kan wees nie.  Asseblief dames, moenie dat julle die oorsaak is van lede se harde werk waarna nie gekyk gaan word nie.

*Kaartjie word aan artikels geheg met ‘n hekeldraad sonder ‘n koperspeldjie. 
Maak seker elke artikel het sy kaartjie stewig aan. Dit kan deur ‘n gaatjie, lussie of enige plek gewerk word.  Ons kan nie kaartjies aanheg en seker maak elkeen is waar dit hoort nie. Artikels wat vanaf tak of streeks vlak netjies en korrek aangebied word, wys die deelnemer se trots in haar werk. Julle moet haar trots ook verder dra, omdat sy haar provinsie verteenwoordig.

Baie dankie dat ek kan staat maak op elke organisasie om hulle deel volledig te doen.  Sien met groot afwagting uit na 2027 se artikels.

MASJIENWERK

Stik-en-sny metode. (Stitch and slash)

  •  Voorkoms:   50%     
  • Werksgehalte:   50%

Vereistes
  • Enige voltooide artikel in die Stik-en-Sny metode. 
  • Artikel word in geheel beoordeel en moet aan die vereistes van masjienwerk konstruksies voldoen.
  • Die Stik-en-Sny metode moet oorheers op die artikel, ongeag die tipe artikel, hetsy ‘n kledingstuk, plekmatjie of handsak.

Wenke
  • Maak gebruik van duursame tekstielstof vir die agtergrond en onderste laag van die Stiken-Sny. 
  • Plaas twee of meer lae tekstielstof oor mekaar en stik met kleiner steeklengte in patroon lyne aanmekaar vas. v  Knip deur boonste lae, om verskillende effekte en kleure te verkry. 
  • Maak gebruik van ‘n skerp skêr en waak daarteen om die onderste laag raak te sny.
  • Voltooi die artikel met die regte konstruksie metodes. 
  • Tooisels is toelaatbaar, maar mag nie oorheers nie.
  • Die artikel moet die lid se eie werk wees. 
  • Die artikel mag nie ouer as twee jaar wees nie.

MACHINE WORK

Stitch and Slash method
  • Appearance:     50%
  • Quality of work:   Requirements 50%         
  • Any complete article using the Stitch and Slash method can be submitted.
  • The article will be judge as a unit and must comply with the correct machine construction methods. 
  • The Stitch and Slash technique must be the dominant feature of the article be it an article of clothing, a place mat or a handbag.   

Hints
  • Make use of durable fabrics for the background and bottom layers for the Stitch and Slash. 
  • Place two or more layers of fabric one over the other. Using shorter stitch lengths, stitch the layers together along the pattern lines.
  • Cut or slash the top layers to get different effects and colour.   
  • Use a sharp pair of scissors and guard against cutting through the bottom layer. 
  • Complete the article using the correct construction methods.
  • Trimmings are allowed but must not dominate the work.
  • The article must be the participant’s own, original work.
  • The article may not be older than two years.

Presentation
  • Present in a clear plastic bag marked as follows: MACHINE WORK, your name, branch, area and province.   
  • Attach the card to the article with crochet thread. 
  • Please do not use safety pins.

BORDUURWERK 

Getelde draadborduurwerk   
  • Voorkoms: 60%
  • Werksgehalte:   40%

Vereistes
  • Artikel mag nie ouer as twee jaar wees nie, en moet geparafeer en gedateer wees.
  • Enige voltooide artikel, geborduur met twee of meer soorte getelde draadborduurwerk.
  • Die soorte moet duidelik identifiseerbaar wees.
  • Borduursoorte hoef nie in dieselfde hoeveelhede op die artikel gewerk te word nie.
  • Muurprente kan gemonteer word (bedek die montering met kleef plastiek) maar geen rame of glas is toelaatbaar nie.
  • Vermy groot lomp artikels.
  • Onvoltooide artikels sal gediskwalifiseer word. 

Wenke 
  • Enige soort getelde draad borduursoorte en samestelling daarvan kan gewerk word.   
  • Elke soort borduurwerk moet gewerk word volgens die betrokke soort se vereistes. 
  • Gebruik ‘n raam om ‘n egalige spanning te verkry.
  • ‘n Duursame ewedraad linne of katoenstof is geskik vir hierdie borduurwerk soorte.
  • Ewedraad beteken dieselfde hoeveelheid drade per vk. cm (cm²).
  • Aida en Hardanger borduurstof word nie aanbeveel.   
  • Die keuse van borduurgaring sal bepaal word deur die borduursoort wat gewerk gaan word.

EMBROIDERY

Counted thread embroidery
  • Appearance:   60%
  • Quality of work:   40%

Requirements 
  • Article may not be older than two years, and must be signed and dated.
  • Any completed article embroidered with two or more types of “ counted thread work”embroidery.
  • The type of embroidery must be easily recognized. 
  • The distinct types do not have to be worked in equal amounts.
  • Murals can be mounted. (Cover the mounting with cling wrap). Frames and glass are not permitted.
  • Avoid large clumsy articles.
  • Unfinished articles will be disqualified.

Hints
  • Any type of counted thread embroidery and combinations may be used. 
  • Each type must be worked according to the specific requirements of that type.
  • Use a frame to ensure an even tension.
  • Use good quality even weave linen or cotton cloth that is suitable for this type of embroidery.
  • Even weave means that the fabric has the same number of threads per sq.cm. (cm²)
  • Aida and Hardanger cloths are not recommended. 
  • The type of embroidery will determine the choice of embroidery threads.

Presentation

BREIWERK

Kreatiewe gilet
  • Voorkoms:   50%
  • Werksgehalte:  50%  

Vereistes 
  • ‘n Heuplengte, moulose kreatiewe gilet.
  • Kreatief beteken hier om ‘n gilet skeppend te brei wat nuut en innoverend is.
  • Artikel mag nie ouer as twee jaar wees nie. 
  • Enige garingdikte vesels, patroonsteke en kombinasies van patroonsteke asook verskillende kleurvariasies kan gebruik word. 

Wenke
  • Daar kan splete in die synate wees- indien die gilet se voor- en agterpante slegs op die skouers heg, is een of ander geskikte vasmaker langs die sye nodig.   
  • ‘n Gilet word altyd oor ‘n ander kledingstuk gedra daarom moet die halslyn nie te hoog wees nie.  Maak gebruik van enige geskikte vorm halslyn.
  • Waak teen te veel verskillende effekte wat ‘n te deurmekaar indruk kan skep. 
  • Spanning gaan belangrik wees aangesien daar met verskillende diktes garing, vesels en patroonsteke gebrei gaan word. 
  • Beplan en toets eers elke tipe sorgvuldig sodat die artikel ‘n netjiese spanning sal behou.
  • Tooisels en borduurwerk is binne perke toelaatbaar en mag nie die breiwerk oorheers nie.
  • Kreatief sluit in onder andere – strepe, crazy patchwork, kolle ensovoorts.

Requirements 
  • A hip length, sleeveless creatively knitted gilet.   
  • ‘Creative’ in this instance means a gilet knitted in new and innovative ways.
  • Article may not be older than two years.
  • Yarn of any thickness and fiber, pattern stitches or any combination of pattern stitches as well as colour combinations can be used.   

Tips
  • There can be slits in the side seams and if the front and back parts are only joined on the shoulders, a suitable fastener will be needed on the sides.   
  • As gilets are always worn over another garment, the neckline must not be too high. It can have a suitable form of neckline.
  • Guard against the use of too many different effects that may result in creating a confusing muddled up appearance. 
  • Tension will be important as yarns of different thickness and textures are used together with different pattern stitches. 
  • Plan and test every stitch carefully so that a neat and even tension can be maintained.
  • Accessories and embroidery can be used sparingly but may not dominate the knitting.
  • ‘Creative’ includes among others  - stripes, crazy patch work, dots etc.

HEKELWERK

Amigurumi speelding
  • Voorkoms:   50%
  • Werksgehalte:   50% 

Vereistes 
  • Die artikel mag nie ouer as twee jaar wees nie. v Heg wol/gare se etiket en monster daarvan aan die artikel vas.   
  • Enige driedimensionele, gehekelde speelding wat verbeelding aangryp en goeie karakter eienskappe het.
  • Groote van diertjie of figuur, maksimum 40cm en minimum 20cm.
  • Die geskiktheid van tooisels en mate waarin hulle karakter aan die speelding verleen, moet netjies en duursaam wees. 

Wenke
  • Dit mag klere hê wat kan aan en uittrek.
  • Hierdie speelding word grotendeels in die rondte gehekel, wat die amigurumi tegniek uitbeeld, en dan opgestop en gevorm.
  • Kies vrolike, helder kleure hekelgaring wat aantreklik is, maar die algemene voorkoms moet die bepaalde speelding suggereer. 
  • Gelaatstrekke met glasoë / hand geborduurde oë, harde snorbaarde, donsige sterte ens. kan gebruik word, maar moet stewig geheg wees.   
  • Om goeie fatsoen en stewigheid te verseker: Kies 'n geskikte hekelpen, volgens draadkeuse, vir ‘n stewige spanning.
  • Hekelgaring: 4 draad katoen en/of akriel kombinasie van 60%-40% is baie effektief. (Te dik garing veroorsaak dat fatsoen maklik verloor en besonderhede verlore gaan).
  • Donsige- en veergaring mag gebruik word.
  • Stopsel moet lig van gewig en wasbaar wees.  Speelding moet styf dog egalig gestop wees en die stopsel mag nie uitsteek nie.   

Afwerking: 
  • Geen diknate, losdrade of lusse nie.

Requirements 
  • The article must not be older than two years.
  • Attach the label of yarn /thread and a piece of it, to the article.
  • Unique three-dimensional crocheted toy that captures imagination and embodies good character traits. 
  • The maximum size of the toy or figure, is 40 cm and the minimum 20 cm.
  • The suitability of embellishments and the extent to which they impart character to the toy must be neat and durable. 

Hints
  • It may have clothes that can be dressed and undressed. 
  • This toy is generally crocheted in a round form, typical of the Amigurumi technique and is then stuffed and formed. 
  • Choose cheerful, bright-coloured yarn that is attractive, but the overall appearance should suggest a specific toy. 
  • Facial features with glass eyes / embroidery eyes, hard moustaches, fluffy tails etc. can be used, but must be securely attached.
  • To ensure good shape and firmness: Choose a crochet hook of the correct size, according to the type of yarn to ensure firm tension.
  • Yarn: 4 ply cotton or a cotton blend with Acrylic 60% - 40% is the best yarn to use. (Thick yarn results in the loss of form and detail.)
  • Fluffy- and Furn yarns are allowed.
  • Stuffing must be lightweight and washable.   
  • The toy must be evenly and firmly stuffed. The stuffing must not protrude.

Finish:   
  • No thick joints, loose threads or loops.

BORDUURMASJIENWERK   

Skinkbordlappie
  • Voorkoms:   50%
  • Werksgehalte:   50％        

Vereistes
  • Maak en borduur ‘n skinkbordlap met die borduurmasjien. Dit mag nie ouer as twee jaar wees nie.
  • Skinkbordlap kan beskik oor enige vorm met die minimum grootte van 600cm2.
  • Die verhouding van 2:3 (2 tot 3) word vir ‘n ovaal- en reghoekige vorm aanbeveel. 
  • Die gebruik van ‘n naaldwerkmasjien, vir die insit van die soom of ‘n kantafwerking, is toelaatbaar maar mag nie die artikel oorheers nie.
  • Gebruik jou borduurmasjien optimaal.

Wenke 
  • Die ontwerp moet pas by die vorm van die artikel en moet nie ‘n bepaalde bo of onderkant hê nie.
  • Klein fyner ontwerpe wat nie te bonkig is nie, word aanbeveel. Vermy ontwerpe met verhewe gedeeltes.   
  • Neem kunsbeginsels in ag by die samestelling van ontwerp.
  • Die korrekte spanning en keuse van steke by die borduurwerk is baie belangrik.
  • Gebruik die randafwerking as ‘n raam vir die plasing van ontwerpe.
  • Gebruik ‘n tekstielstof met ‘n stewige ewedraad weef. 
  • Let op na die draadrigting met die uitmeet en knip van skinkbordlap. 
  • Die gebruik van ‘n stabiliseringstof moet netjies en korrek gebruik en verwyder word. 
  • Die keuse van stabiliseringstof moet pas by die keuse van tekstielstof.   
  • Enige geskikte gare wat die gekose ontwerp of ontwerpe tot hul reg sal laat kom, kan gebruik word. 
  • Op die spoeletjie kan dieselfde kleur gare gebruik word of selfs spoeletjie gare “bobbin thread” wat dunner is en goeie resultate saam met masjien borduurgare gee.
  • Plaas die artikel met die regterkant na onder op ‘n sagte oppervlak en pars versigtig aan die verkeerde kant. 
  • Die gebruik van stysel vir ‘n goeie eindresultaat is toelaatbaar. 

Aanbieding
  • Trek ‘n stewige basis oor met lap en ryg 2/3 van artikel daarop vas.

MACHINE EMBROIDERY

Embroidered  Tray cloth
  • Appearance:   50%
  • Workmanship:   50%               

Requirements
  • A tray cloth embroidered with an embroidery machine and not older than two years. 
  • The tray cloth may have any shape with a minimum size of 600cm2.
  • The ratio of 2:3 (2 to 3) is advised for an oval or rectangular shape.
  • The use of a sewing machine for the seam edging or joining of lace is acceptable but must not dominate the embroidery. 
  • Make optimal use of your embroidery machine.

Hints
  • The design must be suitable for the shape of the tray cloth and should not have a definite top or bottom.
  • Small designs that are not too bulky or have raised areas, are recommended. 
  • Keep art principles and good design in mind. 
  • Use the edging as frame for the placement of designs.
  • The stitch tension and stitch selection used for the embroidery is very important.
  • Use a firm, even weave fabric with good texture. 
  • Take note of the direction of the grain when measuring and cutting the fabric. 
  • The correct type and weight of stabilizer should be used to suit the chosen fabric and stitch density.
  • The stabilizer must be used correctly and removed neatly and correctly.
  • Any suitable thread that will enhance the chosen design can be used. 
  • On the bobbin the same colour thread or bobbin thread, which is slightly thinner, may be used to obtain good results with the embroidery thread that is being used.
  • To press, put face down on a soft surface and press carefully on the wrong side. 
  • Starch may be used to achieve a good end product.

Die doel van ‘n aktiwiteitsboekie is om ‘n liefde vir storie interpretasie en herkenning van letters, syfers, kleur, vorm, ens te ontwikkel deur pret aktiwiteite.

Vereistes 
  • Die artikel mag nie ouer as twee jaar wees nie.
  • Grootte: Ongeveer 250 x 250mm maar nie kleiner as A5 (148mm x 210mm) nie.
  • Materiaal vir blaaie: Duursaam, stewig en wasbaar. Moet maklik kan blaai.
  • Draad of ander skerp voorwerpe is nie toelaatbaar nie
  • Moet beskik oor interaktiewe dele/elemente.
  • NB! Minstens 5 bladsye, die versierde voorblad ingesluit.

Wenke
  • Omboorsel kan gebruik word om blaaie te verstewig.
  • Los elemente (blomme, blare, vrugte, ens.) mag dubbel gemaak word vir makliker hantering.
  • Los elemente mag met die hand of masjien omgewerk word om duursaamheid te verhoog.
  • Materiaal vir los elemente: Vilt word gewoonlik gebruik maar is nie voorskriftelik nie.
  • Pasop vir gomdrade en merke waar dit gebruik word. v Hou dit eenvoudig – nie te besig nie.
  • Gebruik liefs groot knope en werk stewig vas vir veiligheid. v Gebruik knope, drukknope, ritssluiters, Velcro, gespes, skoenveter en/of enige ander vasmaakmiddel. 
  • Hou kunsbeginsels in gedagte wanneer u beplan.

Activity book for a toddler (+/- 3-5 years)
  • Appearance: 60%
  • Quality of work:  40%

The purpose of the activity book is to instill a love for story interpretation and recognition of letters, numbers, colour, shape etc, through fun activities.

Requirements 
  • Article may not be older than two years.
  • Size: Approximately 250 x 250mm, but not smaller than A5 (148mm x 210mm).
  • Material for pages: Durable, firm, and washable. Must page easily.
  • Wire or any other sharp objects are not allowed.
  • Must contain interactive parts/elements.
  • NB! At least 5 pages including the decorative cover page.

Tips
  • Binding can be used to firm up pages.
  • Loose elements (flowers, leaves, and fruit, etc.) may be made double for easier handling.
  • Machine/hand stitching may be used to reinforce edges of loose elements to increase durability.
  • Material for loose elements: Felt is usually used but is not specifically prescribed.
  • Guard against glue marks and strings, when glue is used.
  • Keep it simple, not too busy.
  • Use large buttons and sew on firmly for safety purposes.
  • Include buttons, zips, press studs, Velcro, buckles, shoelaces and/or any other fasteners.
  • Keep in mind all the principles of art, when planning.

FOTOGRAFIE

“Noir” Fotografie 

Film/ Foto Noir beskryf ‘n genre of styl van fotografie wat uit die 1940’s en 1950’s dateer. Dit is afkomstig van noir films uit hierdie era wat meestal misterieus was. Film Noir word gekarakteriseer deur die gebruik van vorms/figure, skaduwees en lig.

Vereistes: 
  • A5-grootte (Grootte: 6” x 8” (152x203 mm)) is naby genoeg aan A5. 
  • Neem foto vanuit drie verskillende rigtings/hoeke. Daar moet drie foto's wees (eerste keuse gemonteer en ander twee agterop montering).
  • Swart en Wit v Montering: A4. Gebruik harde, stewige monteerbord. (Nie gewone 160g gekleurde karton nie) 

Wenke:
  • Fokuspunt is belangrik maar in Noir fotografie is die duidelik herkenbare onderwerp nie noodwendig in fokus nie.
  • Duidelik herkenbare onderwerp moet verkieslik uitstaan van die agtergrond.
  • Die foto uit die ver verlede moet ‘n storie vertel wat spanning en misterie wek. Let op na die oordra van emosie en atmosfeer.
  • Beligting: Hierdie effek word verkry deur met lig en tekstuur te speel. Vir effektiewe beligting kan gebruik gemaak word van ‘n enkel, losstaande, kleinerige ligbron, wat goed geplaas is.
  • Die gevoel van ‘n ou foto vol misterie word vasgevang met diep skadu’s, wat op onderwerp vorm, as gevolg van die posisie van die onderwerp wat soekend is na lig. 

Aanbieding:

PHOTOGRAPHY

“Noir” photography

Film/Photo Noir describes a genre or style of photography that dates from the 1940’s and 1950’s. They mostly convey a mysterious object and were characterised by the use of shapes, shadows and light.

Requirements: 
  • A5-size (Size: 6” x 8” (152x203 mm)) is close enough to A5. 
  • Take a photo from three different directions. There should be three photos. Best photo that is mounted the other two photos can be printed small and pasted on the back of the mounting.
  • Black and white v Mounting: A4. Use a firm mounting board. (Not coloured 160g board)  Guidelines: 
  • Focal point is important, but the recognizable subject need not always be sharp and in focus.
  • Subject which should be clearly recognizable, should preferably stand out clearly from the background. 
  • This photo should tell a story of tension and mystery from the past.
  • Give attention to conveying the emotion/drama and ambiance.
  • Lighting: This effect is obtained by experimenting with light and texture.
  • For effective lighting, the use of a single, well-placed, small light source, can be effective.
  • Make use of deep shadows to give the feeling of an old mysterious photo with the subject searching for light. Presentation:
  • The details of the camera, lens and light source must be noted on the back of the mount. 
  • Present in a plastic envelope marked as follows: PHOTOGRAPHY, name, branch, area and province. 
  • Attach the card to the back of the mounting board with crochet thread that is long enough.

SKILDERKUNS

Vereistes
  • Gebruik gespande doek op raam (canvas) of harde skilderdoek.
  • Grootte A3 - montering ingesluit, indien nodig. 
  • Geen glas of raam nie. v Slegs kwastegniek is toelaatbaar. 
  • Gebruik  goeie kwaliteit akrielverf.
  • Artikel mag nie ouer as twee jaar wees nie, en moet geparafeer en gedateer wees.
  • Maak gebruik van eie oorspronklike ontwerp/toneel.

Wenke
  • Kies ‘n eenvoudige toneel eerder as een met te veel detail. 
  • Wees versigtig vir sonsondergange, waar byna net silhoeëtte te sien is.
  • Geboue en figure in jou toneel is aanvaarbaar, solank dit nie die hoofonderwerp word of die toneel oorheers nie.
  • Berei jou doek goed voor met ‘n Laag Gesso sodat die verf beter vasklou.
  • Enige van die klassieke ronde, plat of Filbert kwaste kan gebruik word.
  • ’n Vernis of seëlaar kan op die voltooide werk aangebring word. 
  • Maak gebruik van ‘n goeie en duursame akrielverf.  Kyk na die permanensie of kleurvastheid wat aangedui word op die verfhouer. v Deur in lae te skilder, word goeie perspektief (diepte) verkry. Verf altyd van donker na lig.                         
  • Akrielverf word gou droog. ‘n Kunsvertrager (blender / retarder) kan gebruik word om die aksie te vertraag.
  • Neem in ag dat akrielverf verdonker wanneer dit droog is.
  • Kyk na die kunsbeginsels en hou komposisie ingedagte. 
  • Goeie beplanning is dus nodig.

Aanbieding
  • Verpak in ‘n borrel plastieksak vir beskerming. 
  • Moenie kleeflint gebruik om die sak toe te hou nie. 
  • Merk dit as volg: SKILDERKUNS, jou naam, tak, area en provinsie.

Requirements
  • Make use of stretched canvas or covered hardboard. 
  • Size: A3 - including mounting, if required. 
  • Unframed and no glass.   
  • Use brush techniques only. v Use a good quality acrylic paint.
  • Article may not be older than two years and must be signed and dated.
  • Make use of own original design/scene.

Tips
  • Choose a simple scene, rather than one with too much detail.
  • Be cautious of full sunsets where only silhouettes can be seen.
  • Buildings and figures in your painting are acceptable, but they must not be the main feature.                                                   
  • Prepare your canvas well. A layer of Gesso allows for better absorption of the paint.
  • Any of the classic round, flat or Filbert brushes can be used.                                                 
  • When dry, you may cover the painting with a layer of varnish or sealant.                                             
  •  Buy a good artist acrylic paint. Check the permanence or colour fastness that is clearly indicated on the tube.                       Painting in layers will give more perspective (depth). Always paint from dark to light.                                   
  • Acrylic paint is fast drying.  A blender or retarder can be used to prolong the action.                       
  • Take in consideration that acrylic paint becomes darker when dry.                                                           
  • Remember the art principals in your design, and keep composition in mind. 
  • Plan your design well. Presentation v Pack in a bubble wrap bag for protection.   
  • Do not use tape to close the bag. 
  • Mark as follows: PAINTING, your name, branch, area and province. 
  • Attach the card to the back of the painting using a long enough crochet thread and sticky tape.

Onderwerp: Storie vir ‘n kleuter

  • Font: Gebruik Calibri 12 in 1,5 spasiëring op A4 grootte papier of karton.
  • Skryfstuk mag nie ouer as twee jaar wees nie, eie werk en ook nie gepubliseerd wees nie

Riglyne:
  • ‘n Storie vir voorskoolse kinders is gevra. 
  • Skep karakters wat geloofwaardig voorkom. Hulle moet dus sterk- en swakpunte, asook drome hê, en die wilskrag om probleme te oorkom en drome te verwesenlik.
  • Die struktuur is eenvoudig met kort maar kragtige sinne. 
  • ‘n Begin, middel en einde is belangrik. Die storie moet dus van die begin af boeiend wees, die kind neem op ‘n opwindende reis en ‘n gelukkige einde hê. 
  • Kies ‘n eenvoudige, prettige onderwerp waarmee die kind sal vereenselwig. 
  • Die inhoud moet geloofwaardig wees, m.a.w. skets die wêreld vanuit ‘n kleuter se perspektief.
  • Die tema is u eie keuse.

Wenke:
  • Hou die belangstellings en ontwikkelingsvlak van dié ouderdomsgroep in gedagte.
  • Hanteer fantasie versigtig. Meeste kinders in hierdie ouderdomsgroep kan nog nie  onderskei tussen fantasie en werklikheid nie.
  • Superhelde is nie geskik vir hierdie ouderdom nie. Hulle sin vir gevaar is nie genoegsaam ontwikkel om besluite te neem vir hul eie en ander se veiligheid nie.
  • Herhaal frases, rymwoorde of klanke vir pret en ter wille van taalontwikkeling.
  • Stories oor kinders van hul eie ouderdom is altyd ‘n treffer, veral in die geval waar die kleuter met dieselfde probleem worstel as die karakter (vrees, angs, ‘n gebrek, ens).
  • Maak gebruik van direkte rede om die storie meer interessant en geloofwaardig te maak.
  • Moet nie die humor vergeet nie.

Subject: Story for a toddler

Requirements
  • A story for a toddler aged 3 – 5 years. 
  • Number of words 450-500.  v Indicate the word count at the end of the story.
  • Use Calibri 12 font with 1.5 spacing and print on A4-size paper or board.
  • Article not to be older than two years, your own work and unpublished Guidelines:
  • A story for preschool children is requested. 
  • Create relatable characters. Characters must have strengths, weaknesses, and dreams together with the willpower to overcome problems so as to fulfil the dreams.
  • The structure is simple with short but powerful sentences.
  • A clear beginning, middle and end is important. 
  • The story must be compelling from the start, take the child on an exciting journey, and must have a happy ending.
  • Choose a fun but simple subject that the child will relate to. 
  • The content must be credible, in other words, paint a picture from a child’s perspective.
  • The theme is your own choice.

Hints:
  • Keep the interest, level of development and the age of the audince in mind.
  • Be careful with fantasy. Children in this age group cannot always differentiate between fantasy and reality.
  • Superheroes are not a suitable subject for this age group. Their sense of danger is not sufficiently developed to make decisions about their own and others safety.
  • Repeat phrases, rhyming words or sounds for fun and to support language development.
  • Stories about children of the same age and similar challenges are always in demand, especially where the hero has the same struggles as the toddler (fear, anxiety, a disability, etc.). 
  • Make use of direct speech to create interest and make the story more credible.
  • Don’t forget to add some humour.
