VEREISTES:

• Grootte – A3.
• Harde Canvas.
• Gebruik tekstuur verf vir dimensie saam met Akriel verf.

• Verf onderlaag dun en egalig aan.
• Rond agterkant ook af.

 
BORDUURMASJIEN- OF MASJIENBORDUURWERK – Voorskoot vir volwassene met borsstuk
VOORSKOOT VEREISTES:

• Moet gemaakte voorskoot wees.
• Enige styl is toelaatbaar mits die voorskoot die rok goed bedek en om die heupe strek.

• ‘n Borsstuk is ‘n vereiste.
• Sak of sakke op rompgedeelte is verpligtend.
• Bande moet dubbeld wees.
• Band moet maklik oor kop glip, of twee aparte bande wat vas gebind word.
• Tooisels moet pas by soort stof: bv. katoen op katoen.
• Waar die styl nate vereis moet rolnate, eenvoudige platnate en toe enkelnate gebruik word.
• Die soom moet met masjien gestik word of met ‘n skuins- omboorsel gestik word.
• Die tekstielstof moet wasbaar en sterk wees.

 
ONTHOU ARTIKEL IS MASJIENBORDUURWERK; MOET IN VERHOUDING WEES MET DIE ARTIKEL GROOTTE. BORDUURWERK IN HOEKIE IS NIE VOLDOENDE NIE. ONTHOU DAT AS JY DEKORATIEWE STEKE MET GEWONE MASJIEN DOEN MOET DIT ‘N EENHEID VORM OF SOOS ‘N ONTWERP LYK.
Masjienborduurwerk moet deeglik beplan word. Dit moet deel maak van die projek.
BALANS:

• Plasing van ontwerp speel ‘n belangrike rol en die borduurwerk moet deel uitmaak van die algehele artikel.
• Borduurmotiewe moet waarde toevoeg tot die artikel.
• Die steekdigtheid van die motief, moet pas by tekstielstof en soort artikel
• Buitelyne van geborduurde motiewe moet perfek pas.

MATERIAAL EN GARE:

• Ontwerp moet geskik wees vir die material.

Dus gaan die digtheid van die borduurwerk en materiaal ‘n rol speel

• Siergarings, metaaldrade en dikker gare vereis spesiale gebruikstoepassings, steekaanpassing en masjienstellings om dit effektief te gebruik.
• Die steekspanning van die masjien moet baie goed ingestel wees.
• Die onderste gare mag glad nie boontoe trek en sigbaar wees op die regtekant nie.
• Op die agterkant van die borduurwerk moet boonste garing sigbaar agter toe trek.

SPANWERK EN BORDUURRAME:

• Korrekte span van artikel is van groot belang vir die eind produk.
• Hier moet die buitelyne akkuraat in lyn met die ontwerp wees en nie spasies wys nie.
• Swak spanwerk sal los steke meebring, dit gee ‘n slordige voorkoms.
• Draadrigting speel ook ‘n belangrike rol.
• Geen raam brandmerke mag sigbaar wees nie.
• Die korrekte gebruik van die raam is van groot belang.

STABILISERING:

• Korrekte soort gewig stabiliseering moet gebruik word om aan te pas by die borduurmotief se steekdigtheid.
• Katoen, linne en poliëster sal wegskeur - of wegsny stabiliseerder meer doeltreffend wees.

WERKSGEHALTE:

• Krimp en was artikels voor borduurwerk gedoen word.
• Sekere stabiliseerders moet eers uitgespoel word om die ware eindproduk te sien.


• HANDBORDUURWERK – Stump work gekombineer met Goudwerk

         VEREISTE:

• Grootte: Enige artikel - Nie kleiner as A4 en nie groter as A3 nie
• Gemonteerde muurprent.
• Geen geraamde artikel nie.
• “Stump work” 60% en Goudwerk 40%
• “Stump work” dateer uit die 17de Eeu en kan ook soms verwar word met “Elegant chain” borduurwerk.
• Tipiese moderne “Stumpwork” bevat plat, opgestop en losstaande stukkies wat ‘n eenheid vorm.
• Goudwerk:  Soos baie ander borduurwerke kom dit ook van die Ooste Die siersteke drade kom van die Egiptenare, Assiriërs en Babiloniërs dit was silwer of draad wat met goudgeplateer was en baie dun gesny was. Die stuk wat bewaar is kom van die St Cuthbert van Durhauser Katedraal – Engeland 10de Eeu.  Moderne werk word met verskillende diktes in goud- en silwer- en krale- en gares en koord gewerk.
•  MATERIAAL EN BENODIGHEDE:

• Kleur jou eie keuse.  
• Drie (3) Hangeroortreksels moet in verskillende patroonsteke gebrei word.
• Hanger moet vooraf oorgetrek word.
• Die draad hakie bo moet met plastiese pypie oorgetrek word.
• Tooisels moet ingebrei word, nie geplak nie. Bv. krale, lint en kant ens.

 WENKE:

• Let op na afwerking van breiwerk.               
• Artikel moet fris en vars vertoon.
• Fraaiïngs moet gelyk hang.


•  HANDVLYT - Kolletjies Mandala verfkuns

         VEREISTE:

• ‘n stel van ses “Coasters”- enige vorm.
• Eie keuse van Mandala patroon.
• Elke een ‘n verskillende ontwerpe.
• Onthou dis ‘n mandala - m.a.w. van binne na buite.
• 2 Lae vernis mag gebruik word vir die verseël van artikel.
• Akriel verf of “crafters” verf mag gebruik word.
• Spasieëring van kolletjies baie belangrik.
• Beplan noukeurig.
• Geen tooisels mag op geplak word nie.

WENKE:

• Sny bv. tandestokkies en sosaties stokkies se punte af om verskillende grootte kolletjies te kry. Oorpluisies maak groterige kolle.
• Twee lae vernis mag oor gespuit word.
• Laat droog word tussen elke laag.
• Jy kan kolletjie verf gereedskap aankoop by PNA teen R37.

 
GEBAK – Wortelkoek net bo versier
VEREISTE:

• In ‘n ringpan gebak.
• Enige bestandele behalwe pynappels.
• Groen appels of piesangs kan as plaasvervanger vir pynappels gebruik word.
• Resep moet aangeheg wees.
• Gebruik roomkaas as versiersel.
• Neute kan deel wees van versiering.

 WENKE:

• Tekstuur moet sag dun en fyn, nie klewerig, maar effe klam wees.
• Speserye smaak moet nie oorheers nie.
• Kleur kenmerkend van die koek.

  
MIKROGOLF GEBAK - Vlaskywe: 2 op bord bedien
VEREISTE:

• 2 vlaskywe op ‘n bord.
• Grootte 6cm x 3cm.
• Vlaskywe moet bo en onder kors hê.
• Cream crackers moet gebruik word vir bo en onder kors.
• Bo kors moet met ‘n glanslaagie bedek wees kenmerkend van vlaskywe.
• Vulsel moet in mikrogolf gemaak word.
• Kors moet vulsel bedek.

         WENKE:

• Vulsel moet stewig wees as gesny word.
• Vulsel moet glad, sonder klonte en romerig wees.

          VEREISTES:

• Grootte:  Jumbo
• Slegs kleur foto’s is toelaatbaar.
• Geen manipulasie in foto’s nie, bv. deur iets by te voeg of weg te neem uit die oorspronklike foto nie.
• Slegs “Crop” is toelaatbaar.
• Montering moet A4 wees.

        AANBIEDING:

• MASJIENWERK – Skoenesak Organiseerder
  VEREISTES:
• Skoenesak met sakke aan weerskante – nie voor nie.
• Skoenesak moet hang.
• Skoenesak moet aangeheg word met ‘n hanger om in hangkas te hang.
• Afwerking eie keuse.
• Gebruik geskikte, duursame, wasbare tekstielstof. 
• GROOTTE:
• Nie korter as ‘n halwe meter, nie langer as een meter.
• ‘n paar skoene aan weerskante of een skoen van ‘n paar beide kante te plaas.  Vir die gebruik van sak.
• Moet gemaklik in klerekas pas.
• WENK:
• Was en krimp vooraf alle tekstielstowwe en tooisels wat gebruik gaan word.
• Werk alle garepunte stewig weg.
• Pars oordeelkundig.
• Maak seker dat alle tooisels stewig aangeheg word.
• Stewige konstruksie is van uiters belang.


• BLOMME – Rivier van Vuur
  VEREISTES:
• ‘n Tafel spasie van 85 cm X 70 cm.
• Hoogte mag nie 50cm oorskry nie.
• Plantmateriaal moet ten alle tye in water of waterhoudende medium geplaas word.
• Maak seker die houer waarin die plantmateriaal is, nie lek nie.
• Gebruik 2/3 van jou spasie.
• Sorg dat die hulpmiddels soos die oasis en “meganisme” nie sigbaar is nie.
• WENKE:
• Maak seker wanneer jy klaar gerangskik is, dat jou werk oppervlakte skoon is, en alle oorskiet plantmateriaal van die lokaal verwyder word.


• SKRYFKUNS - My Pa / My Ma
  VEREISTES:
• Tik of skryf die skryfstuk op A4 papier in “Arial of Calibri” skrif, nr 12, Enkel spasiëring.
• Mag ook in Engels geskryf word.
• Woorde:  350 – 500. Dui die aantal woorde wat gebruik is links onderaan die bladsy aan, bv.  385 Woorde.
• WENKE:
• Weet waaroor jy wil skryf, wat jy wil sê.
• Beplan ‘n goeie inleiding, hoogtepunt en slot.
• Sinskonstruksie en taalgebruik is belangrik.
• Leestekens tel nie as woorde nie.
• KORTVERHAAL:
  Die omskrywing is prosawerk met ‘n strak bou. Die klem val op die karakteromhulling, en die openbaring van die bepaalde aspek van menslike bestaan. Die hoofkarakter word getoon op ‘n bepaalde oomblik in sy lewe waarop hy tot ’n dieper insig in die lewe kom. Die klem val nie op die gebeure nie, daarom moet die kortverhaal dramaties en nie epies nie.
  RIGLYNE:
• Dis ‘n kort verhalende prosastuk. Die verhaalmatigheid onderskei die kortverhaal van ander prosastukke soos die essay en skets.
• Tyd, ruimte en gebeure is gekonsentreerd en daarom is intensiteit, spanning en afwag.
• Kenmerkend van die kortverhaal is die titel opening – en slot paragraaf op mekaar afgespeel.
• Daar word op een of min karakters gekonsentreer.
• Die verteller kan eerste of derde verteller wees.
• Die botsing of konflik is gewoonlik die kern van die kortverhaal.
• Die aard van die kortverhaal kan tragies, komies, realisties of simbolies wees.
• AANBIEDING:
• Deelnemer se naam, van, tak en streek moet op ‘n toegevoude papiertjie agterop die A4 skryfstuk met ‘n kleefbandstrook vasgeheg word.  Indien twee bladsye gebruik word, moet albei blaaie gemerk word en aanmekaar gekram wees.  Moenie dit op die sakkie merk nie.
• Die skryfstuk moet in ‘n A4 plastiek lêersakkie aangebied word.

   LEKKERS – Dadelballetjies
  AANBIEDING:
  
• 6 ronde balletjies op ‘n bord.
• Okkerneut grootte.
• Resep moet aangeheg wees.
• VOORKOMS:
  
• Netheid en keurigheid is belangrik.
• Moet aptytlik lyk.
• WENKE:
  
• Let op dat alle bestandele vars is sodat daar nie vreemde smake na vore kom nie.

PAINTING – Sea scene in Acrylic paint
REQUIREMENTS:

• Size – A3.
• Hard canvas.
• Use texture paint for dimension with Acrylic paint.

HINTS:

• Must be finished off properly and neatly.
• Paint an under coat thinly and evenly.
• Back of canvas must also be neatly done.


• ​MACHINE EMBROIDERY: Apron for an adult
• APRON REQUIREMENTS:
• Apron must be made.
• Any style is permissible, provided that the apron covers the dress adequately and extends over the hips
• The apron must have a bib.
• There should be a pocket or pockets on the skirt portion.
• The bands should all be double.
• The band which is around the neck should pass over the head easily or could be two band to be tied around the neck.
• Trimmings should be as durable as the apron fabric. (Trimmings must match type of fabric: e.g. cotton on cotton)
• Any seams required should be French seams plain flat-fell seams or closed single seams.
• The hem must be machine sewn or finish with bias binding.
• The textile must be washable and durable.
• Remember the article is machine embroidery; should be in proportion to article size. Embroidery in a corner is not enough. Remember that if you use the sewing machine’s decorative stitches it should form a unit or look like a design.
  Machine embroidery should be planned properly. It should be part of the project.  
  BALANCE:
• The placement of the design plays an important role, and the embroidery must be part of the actual article.
• The embroidery motif must be chosen and placed to fit and to enhance the article.
• The stitch density of the motif should suit the fabric and the type of article
• Outlines of embroidery motifs must fit perfectly.
• EMBROIDERY THREAD:
• Design must be suitable for the material
•  (The density of the embroidery and material will play a role for a better end result)
• Decorative, metal and thicker threads need special application, stitch adjustments and machine settings to be effectively.
• Stitch tension of the machine should be set up carefully.
• The bottom thread is not allowed to pull up to the top and should not be visible on the right side.
• On the back side of the embroidery the top thread should be visible.
• STRETCHING AND EMBROIDERY FRAMES:
• The correct stretching of the article and/or fabric is essential for a fine end product.
• Outlines should be accurately lined up with the design and no spaces should show.
• Bad stretching will cause loops in stiches and will give an untidy appearance.
• Once again, the grain line plays a great role
• No frame marks should show.
• The size of the frame depend on the embroidery motif.
• STABILISERS:
• Correct type and weight stabilising should be used to suit the motif’s stitch density, fabric used, article and technique used.
•  For cotton, linen, and polyester use tear away or cut away stabilizer.
• WORKMANSHIP:
• Shrinking and washing article before embroidering.
• Some stabiliser must be rinsed to see the real end product.

• HAND EMBROIDERY – Stump work combined with Goldwork
  REQUIREMENTS:
• Size: Any article – not smaller than A4 and not larger than A3
• Wall picture must be mounted
• Article must not be framed
• Stump work 60% and Gold work 40%
• ​Stump work date from the 17th Century.
• A Typical modern Stump work embroidery contains flat, padded, and freestanding embroidery made on a separate piece of fabric.
• Gold work like so many other sorts embroidery with metal threads came from the East. The Egyptians, Assyrians and Babylonians were done with silver wire coated with gold and make a very fine round thread. To date the earliest surviving example of English metal thread work is in the 10th Century at St Cuthbert from Durhauser Cathedral. Modern work is done with different sizes in gold and silver, beads, thread, and cord.
• MATERIALS AND NECESSITIES:
• Metal threads.
• Embroidery frame.
• Needles (8 – 10) and thimble.
• Scissors, tweezers, and Stiletto.
• Cutting board, felt, string and leather.
• Beeswax, plastic box with divisions.
• Fabric must be strong and tightly woven and linen (calico) for background.
• The design must lend itself to the 60% stump work / 40 % Gold work.
• Sewing threads silk or transparent cotton and machine threads, some gold, silver, or bronze colour. (Different thickness embroidery thread from machine to pearl cotton 80 / 12).
• Beads and stuffing.
• Keep work clean.
• STUMP WORK:
• Needlework stitches.
• Satin stitches.
• Short – and - Long stitches.
• Bullion stitches.
• French stiches.
• Raised stiches.
• Spider web stiches.


• HAND KNITTING – Knitted Coat hangers

       REQUIREMENTS:
A set of Three (3) coat hangers. You can use any yarn, needels must be suiteble for yarn. Own pattern choice. Avoid lacy patterns. Your own choice of colour. Three (3) coat hangers must be knitted in different pattern stiches. The hanger should be covered.

• The iron gaff (hook) should also be covered with plastic piping.
• Accessories must be knitted in, not glued. i.e. beads, ribbon, and lace etc.
• HINTS:
• Tension should be even and neat.
• Article should be clean and fresh.
• Edging / fringe must be straight.


• ​ HANDCRAFT - Dot Mandala painting

REQUIREMENTS:
A set of six coasters – any shape. Own choice of Mandala patterns. Each one a different design.

• Remember it is a mandala – in other words from the center outward.
• Acrylic or craft paint can be used.
• Spacing of dots is especially important.
• Plan carefully.
• No accessories may be glued on.
•  Cut off the points from toothpicks or sosaties sticks to get different sized dots. Earbuds make larger dots.
• Two coats of varnish are allowed.
• Allowing varnish to dry between each layer.
• You can buy the right tools at PNA for R37. 


• BAKING - Carrot cake with icing only on top 

         REQUIREMENTS:
A ring-shaped container for baking. Any ingredients can be used except pineapple. Green apples of banana can be used as a substitute for pineapple. Include the recipe.   Use cottage cheese for icing. Nuts can also be used as part of icing.

• HINTS:
• Texture should be soft rich and slightly moist but not sticky.
• Spices give a pleasant taste but must not overpower.
• Attractive rich brown colour.


• MICROWAVE BAKE - Custard slices: 2 slices on a plate

        REQUIREMENT:
2 Custard slices on a plate. Size 6cm x 3cm. Custard slices must have top and bottom crust. Cream crackers must be used for top and base crust.

• Top crust should be covered with a glossy glaze.
• Filling must be made in the microwave.
• The filling is totally covered with the pastry.
• HINTS:
• Filling should be firm and easily manageable.
• Filling should be smooth and creamy.


•  PHOTOGRAPHY - An old church
• REQUIREMENTS:
  Size:  Jumbo
• Only colour photos are allowed.
• No manipulation in photos, e.g. by adding or removing something from the original photo.
• Only “Crop” is allowed.
• Mounting should be A4.
• Mounting must suit the photo.
• PRESENTATION:
• Photo should be in an A4 plastic file pocket.
• Your name, surname, branch, and region must be on a small paper, attached to the back of the mounting with adhesive tape and not on the plastic file pocket

         REQUIREMENTS:
In a honey jar and should be sealed airtight Fill jar 10mm from top. Label 20mm placed from bottom of jar. Pectin can be added but NO Gelatin may be added
.  GENERAL APPEARANCE:

• Jelly must be clear and translucent
• No pieces of fruit.
• Jelly should be shiny.
• When cut, it should keep its shape with sharp edges.
• HINTS:
• Use fresh fruit.
• Make sure your fruit or fruit juice is rich in pectin.

 
          CROCHET: Amigurumi toy

• REQUIREMENTS:
• Size: Maximum 20cm
• The colour should be suitable for the article.
• Choose yarn that is suited for the article, cotton highly recommended.
• No variegated yarn.
• Trimmings must be suitable and firmly attached.
• Eyes – Own choice.
• STUFFING:
• A lightweight stuffing is preferred.

      PRESENTATION:

MACHINEWORK– Shoe bag Organizer

• REQUIREMENTS:
• Shoe bag should have shoe holders on both sides – not in front.
• A hanging shoe bag.
• Should be joined at the top and attached with a hanger that can be hooked on a rail.
• Finishing touches – your own choice
• Use suitable, durable, and washable material.
• Not shorter than a half meter and not longer than one meter.
• Holders can be made for 1 pair of shoes per holder or one shoe of a pair per side.
• HINTS:
• Preshrink all materials and accessories before use.
• Firmly work loose ends away.
• Press carefully.
• Trimmings should be suitable and firmly attached.
• Correct methods according to the guidelines should be used.
• Being washable is recommended.


• FLOWERS – River of Fire
  REQUIREMENTS:
• Table space 85 cm X 70 cm.
• Height must not exceed 50cm.
• Plant material must be placed in water or in a medium that holds water.
• Make sure that the container does not leak.
• Use 2/3 of your space.
• Ensure that any aids i.e. oasis and mechanics are not visible.
• HINTS:
  Ensure when your arrangement is completed that your work surface is clean and all your waste plant material is removed from the roomMust be stiff and evenly stuffed.
• No stuffing should be visible.
• PRESENTATION:
• Neatly displayed

 

• WRITING - My Dad / My Mom
  REQUIREMENTS:
• Type or write your writing on an A4 paper in “Arial or Calibri” font size 12, in single space.
• May also be written in Afrikaans.
• Words:  350 – 500 words. Indicate the number of words used at the bottom left of the page, e.g. 385 Words
• HINTS:
• Know what you want to write, what you want to say.
• Plan a good beginning, highlight and conclusion.
• Sentence construction and language use are important.
• Punctuations does not count as words.
• SHORT STORIES:
  The story is a work of prose with a stark construction. The emphasis is on revelation of character and the unveiling of particular aspect of human existence. The main character is shown at a particular moment in his/her to a deeper insight. The emphasis is not on events, thus the story is rather dramatic than epic.
  GUIDELINES:
• It’s a short narrative piece of prose. The short story is distinguished from other short pieces of prose such as the essay and sketch by the mere fact that it tells a story.
• Time, space and events are concentrated and therefore intensity, tension and anticipation are characteristic of the short story and the title, opening and conclusion paragraphs are attuned.
• The short story concentrates on one or only a few characters.
• The narrator can be in the first or third person.
• The conflict is usually the core of the short story.
• The nature of the short story can be tragic, humorous, realistic or symbolic.  
• PRESENTATION:
• Participant’s name, surname, branch, and region, to be attached on a small folded paper and attached at the back of your A4 writing with adhesive tape.  If two pages is used, both must be marked and cramped together. Don’t mark it on the pocket.
• Writing must be presented in an A4 plastic pocket.

6 round balls on a plate. Walnut size. Include the recipe. GENERAL APPEARANCE:
A general impression of neatness and attractiveness is important. Must look appetizing.

HINTS:

• Make sure that all ingredients are fresh and tasteful.
